I contributed to the SysAdvent blog this year, again as an editor. I had the privilege of working with three great authors on outstanding posts:
- Day 5 – ELK Operations and Administration by Katherine Daniels. Katherine is an outstanding author. Even though I’ve never touched the ELK stack, this post was really enjoyable to read.
- Day 14 – Manage Your Mac Without Going Insane by Corey Quinn. This is the second time I’ve been an editor for Corey’s article, and once again he taught me things I didn’t know about.
- Day 17 – Grokking systemd for Fun and Profit by Tyler Langlois. I went into this expecting it to be an introduction to systemd, and figured I would already know the content. Instead, he dove into some details that I never knew existed.
Once again, the content overall is great. I liked the mix of technical and non-technical content. In the eight years of SysAvent, many wonderful articles have been written, but the best article may be this year’s Fear and Loathing in Systems Administration by H. “Waldo” Grunenwald. It should be required reading for every sysadmin.
